River Float trips
Be our guest for a day-long float trip down the beautiful
Yakima River. The Yakima is Washington's sole Blue
Ribbon
Trout stream, and lives up to that title offering superb
catch and release fishing from its headwaters down
to
Roza dam- about 80 river miles. Our guides run drift
boats and rafts with room for two anglers. Your full
day float includes luncheon, beverages, shuttle and
gear is available. Our guides are all accomplished
instructors
and are well versed in the hatches the Yakima serves
up throughout the year.
Steelheading
The Pacific Northwest is renowned for its Steelhead.
These giant sea-run rainbow trout make their way up
Western Washington streams each Spring and Fall- the
'Winter run' hatchery fish peak is in December/January
and the wild fish peak in March/April, and 'Summer run'
in September/October. Winter steelhead are typically
bigger, and fishing them with flies generally requires
fishing big flies deep. The rivers are colder and flowing
higher in Winter, as opposed to the Summer steelhead
fishery, which is more condusive to fishing floating
lines, waking dry flies, and warmer, clearer waters
in which the fish are more active and can see your flies
well. Smaller patterns are the rule, so smaller rods
may be used. While the Winter steelhead will require
an 8-weight rod and a fast sinking tip line, Summer
steelheading is more of a 6-7 weight rod game. Either
way, the fish are big and fun to catch by any measure.
Our guides are experts at putting you and your fly where
the fish are...the rest is up to you!
