Hook: TMC 5212 or Daiichi 1280 in #6-10
Thread: 6/0 Uni Yellow
Body: 2mm peach foam and 2mm gray foam over top both
cut to shape
Legs: Round rubber legs brown, knotted and clipped
Indicator: 2mm orange foam
Tying tip: To achieve the proper segementation underneath
and the "X" on top go back one way and forward the
opposite and wrap tight enough to bite into the foam but not
so tight it cuts and distorts it. Also wrap the whole hook
shank evenly with thread and cement it at the end to avoid
spinnage.
Fishing Notes: The
closer to the bushes, the better in most cases. Hoppers and
other terrestrials fall into the rivers from the banks, or
make a bad directional judgement on a leap...When the water
is tucked up under the bushes, the fish are in there too,
under cover. When you can tuck your cast under overhanging
shrubbery, you're in the money. Don't be afraid to twitch
and skate the fly as well...hoppers will generally struggle
a bit in the water trying to save themselves, so being drag-free
is not necessarily a prerequisite to roping fish.
